Course Details

This training course runs over one day and will support participants in developing their understanding of sexually harmful behaviours in young people. Intended to promote and develop an understanding of legal, policy and social issues in relation to sexually harmful behaviours. Participants will explore normal and problematic behaviours with a view to developing their insight, understanding and awareness, enabling an effective response within a safeguarding framework.

Graduated in 1999 HND Legal Studies and BA (Hons) Criminal Justice

First Job Legal Aid Clerk in Barry Magistrates Court

Went on to work in Halifax Card Services Fraud Department, then run a Public House and Nightclub in Porth for a number of years, and then volunteer in Cardiff Prisons Education Department before starting work with Young Offenders in 2004.

I have held a sessional worker post taking young people out to complete their reparation as part of their Court Orders as well as my current Case Manager role within the Youth Offending Service.

I have also worked in a voluntary capacity as a community panel member and appropriate adult.

Relevant training completed:

Professional Certificate in Effective Practice – Youth Justice

Award in Education and Training Level 3

AIM Training (Specific to sexually problematic and harmful behaviours) – Assessment – Intervention – Moving On.

Aside from regular safeguarding and signs of safety and other relevant training relative to my role.

Currently work in the Early Intervention Team at Youth Offending Service with a recent link into the Out of Court Disposal Prevention Model.

Assessing and responsible for direct intervention work with Children who have sexually harmed for the past six years.

Currently undertaking training to become a qualified Counsellor
