Summer Jobs Programme
The Summer Jobs Programme Wales is part of a UK-wide initiative providing meaningful paid employment opportunities for young people during the summer.
2025 Summer Programme Wales successfully completed – We’re Now Looking for Young People, Organisations and Employers to Help Shape 2026
Youth Cymru delivers the Summer Jobs Programme across Cardiff, Newport and Swansea, supporting young people aged 16–25, particularly those who may face barriers to employment.
The programme ran successfully in summer 2025, helping young people build confidence, improve well-being and develop employability skills. Each participant was matched with a supportive local employer and received wraparound guidance from a dedicated youth worker.
The initiative offers meaningful work experience, new skills and positive connections that can shape future opportunities.
Planning for Summer 2026 – Employers and Organisations Wanted
We are now preparing for summer 2026 and are looking for:
• Employers who can offer work placements
• Organisations who would like to refer young people
Employers and organisations of any size or sector are welcome. Your workplace can provide a safe and supportive environment where a young person can thrive. All young people are paid in line with the National Living Wage and supported by a dedicated youth worker.
Taking part brings fresh perspectives into your team and demonstrates a commitment to social value. Many previous employers have found strong future employees through the programme.
Looking Ahead
Referrals for the 2026 programme will open soon, and full details on eligibility and registration will be shared shortly. We welcome a wide range of placement opportunities for next summer.
