Youth Cymru is the delivery partner for the Summer Jobs Programme in Wales, delivering across Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea. The programme is for young people aged 16–25, particularly those facing barriers to employment.
The programme aims to improve the young person’s well-being and mental health while helping them develop employability skills and self-confidence.
The Summer Jobs Programme provides them with supportive local employers and wraparound support throughout their placement. A dedicated youth worker also supports the young person as part of their placement throughout their time on the programme.
This initiative helps young people gain valuable employment experience and life skills during the summer months.
So far, we have placed 11 young people in roles across our partner employers in South Wales.
Participants gain:
- Confidence and connections that last beyond the programme
- Real-life work experience
- Support with CVs, interviews, and work-readiness
