About YGAM

The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) is a leading National charity collaboratively delivering the UK’s £10 million national education programme to those that work with and support young people (aged 7-25), to raise awareness around the potential harms associated with gaming and gambling.  We work in a variety of health and educational settings, safeguarding and youth organisations, and with local authorities and children’s services, and I feel that this could be something that’s relevant to your role and that of your colleagues.

They are delivering free training sessions online, via 2.5 hour webinars that are specific to the age range/setting of the young people you work with. The training will cover:

  • an overview of how young people are increasingly exposed to gaming and gambling, and the increasingly blurred lines between the two.
  • the influence of advertising, particularly around sporting events.
  • the role of social media, in game purchases, loot boxes and Esports.
  • the signs to look out for when an individual is at risk and where to seek help.
  • a look at our resources that have been developed specifically to support practitioners to deliver to and support young people in educational and non-educational settings.
