The UK Youth Awards will be split into two categories to crown UK Youth’s:

–          Young Person of the Year – celebrating those truly remarkable 16-25 year olds who have gained vital life skills to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. These achievements may be selfless, brave and, perhaps even, heroic or just great examples of a young person positively transitioning into adulthood.

–          Youth Organisation of the Year – celebrating the innovative and adaptable youth organisations that have overcome challenges to continuously support young people and their local communities. These organisations will have helped enable young people to positively progress through their social development journey from social engagement and learning to social action and leadership.

Three finalists in each category will be invited to a prestigious event at Buckingham Palace hosted by UK Youth’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, on 7th December, where the winners will be announced. Each winner will also receive grant funding of up to £350 and mentoring from top businesses to continue their positive journey.

Anna Smee, CEO of UK Youth said: “Every day I have the honour of hearing incredible stories of young people overcoming adversity to positively transform their life and the lives of others. It’s about time these young people and the grassroots youth organisations who support them every step of the way take centre stage. The UK Youth Awards aim to put the spotlight on these inspirational stories to showcase just what the youth sector is achieving by empowering young people with vital life skills to positively transition into adulthood.”
