Youth Cymru are pleased to confirm that the Introducing Stage will again be at Kaya Festival at Pencoed campus fields, home of Bridgend college South Wales, we will be situated in the heart of Bridgend just 10 minute drive from Margam Park! and near Bridgend located on the outskirts of Pencoed village. The site has several acres of lush greenery which will allow us to build on the excellent community vibe and spirit from previous years.
Pencoed is a very popular site for events in South Wales, it stages the popular Bridgend County show, and this year will stage the famous
Urdd national Eisteddfod-http://www.urdd.cymru/en/eisteddfod/eisteddfod-2017 as well as hosting Kaya Festival 2017 for three amazing days and nights of eclectic community, music and arts.
Pencoed allows Kaya to remain in the heart of its community in South Wales, we had offers to go to other sites in Wales but we wanted to stay where our community is and where people will not have to travel too far to reach us, put simply Kaya – Home to the World is STAYING home in South Wales not far from the original site of Margam park.
Pencoed is also just 2 minutes away from the M4 junction off junction 35, and has a train station which is a 5 minute taxi ride from the station. There is also the wonderful opportunity to build on our community work with Bridgend college which will allow us to continue mentoring young people in the events industry with our exciting partnership with Bridgend college students.
The directors of Kaya Festival, ex Wales rugby international Gavin Thomas, and born and bred Pencoed Youth worker Mark Holmes have expressed their excitement at the news and Gavin commented “Pencoed is a fabulous location and KEEPS the festival in the heart of our community which we have built up over the last couple of years, we loved our time at Margam and we would have loved to have stayed but they chose not to extend our stay, we wish them well and we are so happy that we have found a site where we can really grow the festival within our local community” Mark Holmes added “we understand people’s disappointment that it wasn’t Margam but we hope people give the new site a chance because without the local community Kaya wouldn’t be where it is now, a fabulous weekend for all the family at superb affordable prices!”
